Jennifer Waits will be speaking at the 2025 Intercollegiate Broadcasting System convention in New York City.
Student radio has a rich history, dating back more than a century. Are you working to preserve and archive your station's materials? You might be surprised by the items that are of interest to researchers and historians. Multiple efforts are underway to help high school and college radio stations preserve both audio as well as paper artifacts from the past and present. In this session, we'll share resources that are available from the Library of Congress' Radio Preservation Task Force. Additionally, we'll talk about an Internet Archive project that is collecting and digitizing high school and college radio materials, including hundreds of historic IBS items, for a collection within the Digital Library of Amateur Radio and Communications (DLARC).
Sam Colburn, Archives Director, WNYU 89.1 FM will also discuss efforts to preserve materials from New York University’s student-run radio station.
